Kesco Energy’s mission is to promote the growth of solar photovoltaics through a program of Cooperative Energy Farms and Virtual Net Metering.
The California Solar Initiative is discriminatory.
An estimated 4.25 million California home owners and thousands of business owners are not able to participate in California’s net metering program. According to year 2000 census bureau statistics there are 6.5 million owner-occupied dwellings in California. Of these:
v There are .87 million condominium or duplex owners.
v Of the remaining 5.63 million, there are likely only 30% with the required un-obstructed southern exposure.
v Many of the home owners that have the exposure are hesitant to put solar panels on the roofs of their million dollar plus homes. (Great idea, but not on my roof!)
v Many newer construction homes have complex roof line geometry that make it all but impossible to support a PV Array.
Many California businesses would “Go Solar” if they had the available roof space.
There are 4.96 million occupied rental units in California. Many commercial and residential renters would like to participate in net metering but they are held back because:
v They expand and / or change location sooner than the 25 year life span of the typical solar panel installations. (It is tough to re-locate a solar PV array!)
v The property owner may not allow a solar PV installation on his rental property.
Cooperative Energy Farms end the discrimination!
A Cooperative Energy Farm is a large solar PV installation to 5 MW or larger, that is cooperatively and fractionally owned by individuals and / or businesses within the service area. Net metering is accomplished “Virtually” via electronic metering of the Energy Farms actual, real-time output which is credited to its fractional owners in proportion to ownership as in normal net metering.
